Open-source research terminal

A research terminal for public information.

Veridity brings public records, news and open data into one ontology. Every fact carries its source, how it was derived, its confidence, and when it was true. Follow money, power and coverage, and see why each fact is believed.

Keyboard-first: ⌘K opens the command bar, ? lists the keys.

Early preview, sample data. Everything shown is fictional and illustrative. The live data pipelines are not connected yet.

Fictional example from the demo dataset: one relationship, three statements (a rollup of the amended filing, a news extraction and the superseded original), each with its own provenance. The workspace opens on it.

What Veridity is

Statements

Every fact is a statement

Subject, property and value, plus the source document and locator, how it was derived, the model or person that produced it, a confidence, its license lane, and both valid time and system time.

Ontology

One graph across domains

Legislation, campaign finance, lobbying, spending, courts, enforcement, securities, news and more, as versioned domain packs on one engine. Follow money and power across all of them.

Distribution

Open by default

Planned for launch: a free read API, nightly bulk dumps with full provenance, and an MCP server, all following the same license lanes as the app.

How to read a value

Next to every value, a small mark says how Veridity knows it. The full provenance is one click or one key (E) away.

SRC: read from a primary sourceSource
Read directly from a primary dataset, such as an FEC filing or a roll-call vote.
EXT: extracted from a documentExtracted
Pulled from a document by a named, versioned extractor, with a confidence score.
INF: inferred from other statementsInferred
Computed from other statements by a named rule, such as a rollup or an ownership overlay.
HUM: written by a personHuman
Written by a contributor, journalist or operator, and attributed to their handle.

Principles

  1. Bare facts by default

Veridity records what sources say and leaves conclusions to you. Analysis appears only in functions that say so, and it cites its evidence.

  2. Provenance is always visible

Every value shows how it was derived. One click opens the source, the extractor and its version, the confidence, and the history.

  3. Append-only, bitemporal history

Corrections are new statements that supersede old ones. You can see when a fact was true and when Veridity learned it, and pin a view to a date.

  4. Reading is open

Pages, the read API and the bulk dumps need no account. Accounts exist for saving, writing and talking.

  5. License-aware

Each statement carries a license lane. The server enforces what can be shown, exported or reused, and the interface explains it.

  6. No engagement ranking, no built-in AI

Feeds are chronological. There is no assistant inside the product: bring your own AI through the MCP server.

  7. Radical transparency

Agent actions, moderation actions, schema changes, model versions and spend are published on the public Ops page.
