Licenses, privacy and your rights
Veridity is open source and run in the open. This page collects the licenses that apply to the code and the data, how the project uses AI, and how to ask for a correction.
Licenses
The code is free software under the GNU AGPL-3.0 or later. If you interact with Veridity over a network, you are entitled to its source code: the link in every page footer points to the exact commit this site was built from.
Data that Veridity authors (extracted and inferred statements, dossiers, ops records and dumps of them) is licensed under CC BY 4.0. Third-party data keeps its original license, which each statement records as its license lane. FEC contributor information may not be sold or used to solicit contributions or for commercial purposes (52 U.S.C. § 30111(a)(4)).
Privacy
- No third-party trackers, no advertising, no data sales.
- Fonts and scripts are served from this site only.
- The only cookie today is
vd-prefs, which stores your theme and density on your device so pages render in the right theme. - Reading needs no account. Accounts (18+) are not open yet.
Fix requests for private individuals
Anyone, with or without an account, can ask for a fix when a private individual is linked to the wrong record. Requests are checked against the evidence and, when confirmed, end in a retraction statement. The request form ships with the live data path; until then this preview contains only fictional people.
Legal notices
Notices under the TAKE IT DOWN Act, the DMCA and DSA Article 16 will have forms that do not require an account. They arrive before accounts and public posting open.
Summaries on this page are not legal advice. The license texts linked here are authoritative.
